How much does my CAR actually cost?


Buying a house or a Car is not purely a financial decision. We can listen to all the financial experts recommending us to rent a house rather than buying it, but we are 1 conversation away with our Mom/Dad/Wife/Husband where they mention "1 apni chhat to honi hi chahiye" , and the financial aspect goes right out the window that very moment.


I've seen my brother (who is a senior leader in a leading investment firm) buy a home because his father (whose preferred and only choice of investment instrument was an FD) wanted him to own a home. I myself won't buy an Alto or a Tiago even though they are the most financially sensible choices.


So, we understand that while making a big ticket expense like buying a car, many parameters need to be factored in - the needs, the wants, the desires, the aspirations, the prestige, and the finances.


We've made this calculator to help us clear our doubts regarding the financial aspect of the decision to buy a car. The doubts like:

  • Petrol and Diesel prices are so high.. Should I go for an EV? But the EV car itself is so expensive! (Personally I feel EV is a better choice since it's more premium!)

  • How much will it actually cost me buy a lower average but safer car vs a better average but unsafe car.

  • I'm moving to a new place, but I'm not sure how long will I stay there. Should I use Uber/Ola for the time being or should I buy a car right away?

  • I know I have to travel xx kilometers in a month, which is the best option for me, a Petrol/Diesel car, CNG car, EV or Uber/Ola?
